5 reasons Landmark loves... The West End
Submitted by Jo Disney on
There's so much to love about London. The arts, the underground, the lost stations, the Olympics, the start-up scene, the Royals, the shopping, and the fact that businesses can now have a ".london" website address.
And of course, Boris Johnson.
It goes without saying that Landmark loves London. Over the past 13 years we've created a network of six business hubs in the heart of this very special city and we've been supporting businesses of all sizes, right across the corporate spectrum, ever since.
This year is more important to us than ever, as we opened a new business centre and extended beyond London's Square Mile for the very first time. No.6 in our business centre portfolio, freshly baked, is our debut West End location and workspace is selling like hot cakes. So what is it about this corner of London that's so appealing?
Here are 5 reasons why Landmark loves the West End:
1) One word: Mayfair
It might be the most feared place on the Monopoly board but as London locations go, Mayfair is the most sought-after place to establish a business. Our new Dover Street business centre has the Mayfair looks, the glamour and that most essential piece in the West End business toolkit: a W1 postcode.
2) A Lifetime's Entertainment
Let's face it, Leicester Square and Covent Garden are the perfect place to entertain clients. Or throw a Christmas party. Or spoil your staff. Or just to head out and enjoy yourself after a long week at work. When you're in the entertainment district of the capital, it would be rude not to.
3) Melt Some Plastic
Oxford Street is the ultimate shopping destination. At 1.5 miles long it's Europe's longest shopping street, with more stores than Paris' Avenue des Champs-Élysées. If you're looking for a designer something, head to Selfridges on Oxford Street or partake in a little Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Hermès or Prada on nearby Bond Street. Oh la la indeed.
4) Hidden Gems
The West End might be famed for its bright lights and celebrity appeal, but it has its fair share of hidden gems too. Indulge your sweet tooth at Choccywoccydoodah in Carnaby, go underground at the Cellar Door at 'Zero Aldwych', or discover the green oasis of Isabella Plantation, an ornamental woodland garden.
5) Get Your Skates On
We love Somerset House because, among other things, it was thought to be Europe's first purpose-built office building (these things interest us, sorry) - but the reason we've highlighted this centuries-old building is because there's always so much going on. In winter, skate to your heart's content on a huge courtyard ice rink, and in summer enjoy the spectacle of its 55 fountains. There are art and design exhibitions, free displays, family workshops, guided tours, a pop-up restaurant and, oh, it's also home to London Fashion Week.
These are just 5 of a very long list of reasons why we love London's West End. What's your first love?
